Cassie B. Tolbert, 64, of Troy died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22 at Benevolent Grove Baptist Church in the Needmore Community with the Rev. L.P. Carter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Cassie B. Tolbert was born to the union of the late Rev. Stewart Arthur and Maggie Mae Webster in Houston County. She attended Houston County schools and was a domestic worker. At an early age, she joined the St. Steven A.M.E. Church of Houston County and, later in life, joined Benevolent Grove Baptist Church.

She leaves precious memories with two loving and devoted sisters, Annie Lou Wells of Troy and JoAnn Worthy of Newark, N.J.; her children, Shirley (Sterling) Spears of Marietta, Ga., Willie D. (Kathi) Tolbert, Carl Lee Tolbert, Arthur (Patricia) Tolbert, Catherine Tolbert and John Tolbert, all of Troy, Randy (Belinda) Tolbert of Union Springs; one aunt, Lula C. Mitchell of Ashford; two sisters-in-law, Eula Mae Tolbert and Vinnie Tolbert, both of Troy; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two devoted grandchildren, Tina Townsend of Troy and Selena Adams of Kennesaw, Ga.; a devoted and dedicated family friend, Mrs. Palestine (Dout) Hooten of Troy and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Nephews and cousins will serve as pallbearers. Nieces and cousins will serve as floralbearers.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21 at Harrison Funeral Home. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mamie Stewart

Mamie Stewart, 64, of Pike Manor Health Care Center in Troy died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. L.C. McMillian officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Street Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Stewart was born May 15, 1937 in Pike County and, later, attended Pike County public schools.

Survivors include two daughters, Mamie L. Stewart and Mary Elizabeth Stewart, both of Troy; one cousin, Ezella McGrady of Goshen; two sisters, Tina Downing and Mattie Louise, both of Saco; several other relatives and friends.

Friends will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.
