DHS player ties field goal state record

Josh Woodard of Decatur High School tied a state record with five field goals in one game to enter the prep football spotlight selected by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

A survey of football games statewide is made weekly.

Woodard booted field goals of 33, 21, 34, 49 and 51 yards in Decatur’s 15-0 victory over Grissom. The senior placekicker, who missed a 53-yard attempt in the first quarter, shares the state record for a single game with Tim Rogers of Mountain Brook (1990) and Ricky Beck of Geneva (1970).

Other spotlight performances:

Marco Rembert ran for 174 yards and six touchdowns and also caught a 69-yard pass for another TD in Demopolis’ 73-27 win over Chelsea.

Kevin Boyd of Horseshoe Bend completed 12 of 20 passes for three touchdowns and 321 yards in a 37-0 win over Winterboro.

Levi Cotton of Pleasant Home scored four touchdowns and kicked four extra points in a 35-0 triumph over Zion Chapel.

Brandon Cox completed 18 of 19 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown in Hewitt-Trussville’s 35-15 win over Pell City.

Ryan Anderson of Kinston rushed for 257 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-6 triumph over Ariton.

Rayvon Howard of T. R. Miller rushed 11 times for 245 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-21 victory over Andalusia.

Ezzie Raulls rushed 30 times for 211 yards and four touchdowns in Central-Tuscaloosa’s 31-20 triumph over Ensley.

Mitchell Thomas of Smiths Station ran for 146 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a scoring pass in a 28-14 win over Southside-Selma.

Jesse Henderson ran for 212 yards and three touchdowns in Georgiana’s 40-20 victory over St. Jude.
