Lady Trojans escape Nicholls State with third win

THIBODAUX, La.(Sept. 17) – The Troy State women’s soccer team tied the school record for wins in a season with a 1-0 victory against Nicholls State on Monday in Thibodaux, La.

The lone goal of the game came with seconds remaining.

With 15 seconds remaining, junior Andi Tickles drove past defenders and beat the goalie one-on-one. The goal was Tickle’s sixth of the season. She leads the team with 14 points on the season

It wasn’t as if both teams didn’t try. Troy State finished the game with 24 shots as the Lady Colonels finished with seven.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Murphy notched her third shutout of the season as she made two saves. She now has a goals-against average of 0.99.

The win brings the team’s record to 3-2 on the season.

The Lady Trojans next game will be Wednesday at home versus Jacksonville University at 3 p.m.
