Jesse Robson Smith, 84, of Troy died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001 at his home.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3 at the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy with Dr. Ed Walter officiating. Burial will be held at a later time at Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Troy, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a long-time member and officer of the Troy Civitan Club and a long-time volunteer and organizer for the Troy State Appreciation Day Parade. He worked at Standard Chemical Company, the U.S. Post Office as a rural mail carrier and First Farmers and Merchants National Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes S. Smith of Troy; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mack Gibson of Troy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gilford and Kathy Smith of Atlanta, Ga., and Walter and Sandy Smith of East Temple, Conn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Mack and Shirley Smith of Mobile; grandchildren, Bart Smith of Dallas, Texas, Ren Smith Barbaree of New Orleans, La., Melanie (David) Geary of Birmingham, Andrew Gibson of Mobile, Natalie Smith of Atlanta, Erica Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., and Josh Smith of East Hampton, Conn.; a great-grandchild, McKenzie Griffin of Atlanta.

Pallbearers were Ben Crawley, David Geary, Andrew Gibson, Bart Smith, George Mack Smith and Josh Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J.A. Brantley, Dr. J.C. Brantley, members of NARFE, John M. Smith, Baraca Sunday School Class and Dr. Alan Young.

In lieu of flowers memorials can

be made to the First Baptist Church of Troy or Wiregrass Hospice.
