Troy Marlins beat Braves 13-8 in TABL

The Troy Marlins beat the Braves 13-8 in Troy Amateur Baseball League action on Tuesday night, with Matt Floyd earning the win on the mound for the Marlins.
The Marlins opened with five runs in the first inning and scored four in the second and three more in the third inning of play. Dax Pugh was driven home by a hit in the sixth inning to cap off the scoring for the Marlins.
Derrick Lewis, Pugh, Brent Newman, Chris Calhoun and Tori Gilbert all scored runs for Troy in the first. Lewis, Pugh, Fred Holland and Wes Johnson each added runs for Troy in the second and Henry Lewis, Floyd and Mark Green each reached home plate for the Marlins in the third inning.
Bill Justin had two home runs for the Braves and Jim McKenzie opened the top of the order in the first with a dinger himself. The Braves scored three runs in the first inning, but were unable to reach base in the second, allowing the Marlins to build a big lead.
Justin knocked his second homer of the night in the third inning, scoring two runs, and Jason Thrash scored for the Braves in the fourth.
Todd Rivers scored a run for the Braves in the sixth inning and Jake Kirkland knocked in a runner with a basehit in the seventh.
The Pirates and the Indians will play a make-up game on Saturday with the Red Sox to play the Marlins in the second game of the doubleheader.
Once all make-up games have been played the Troy Amateur Baseball League will then begin its league tournament.
