John Gordon Adams, 91, of Banks died Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Revs. W.O. Sanders, Wayne Scarbrough and Rodney Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Laurie Adams; parents, Leon and Clifford Adams; brothers, DeLeon Adams, Joe Adams, LaBean Adams; sisters, Helen Adams, Azile Presley; daughter, Dorothy Ann Oliver; grandsons, Charles Michael Hall and Miles Campbell.

Survivors include daughters, Faye A. Williamson of Acworth, Ga., Mary A. Hall of Phenix City and Betty A. Hudson of Troy; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clyde A. Lewis of Montgomery and Verbie Gibson of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Dean Campbell, James Oliver, Bob Cryar, Danny Fortney, John Randall, Greg Hall, Michael Hall Jr. and Marvin Hudson Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Campbell, Ryan Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Brandon Cryar, Brad Hall and Jimmy Hall and deacons of Banks Baptist Church.

Clemis Lorraine Copeland

Clemis Lorraine Copeland, 81, of Troy died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Steve Carson officiating. Burial will be at Henderson Memorial Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James "Leo" and Annette Copeland, "Joe" Franklin and June Copeland, all of Troy, Charles A. and Nora Copeland, Clem "Tom" and Pam Copeland, all of Goshen; two sisters-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Norris and Myrtle Davis; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wayne Copeland and a son, Edward "Wayne" Copeland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Henderson Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Copeland, Charlie Copeland, Sam Copeland, Jason Copeland, Rusty Copeland and William Outlaw.

Martha T. Newman, 77, of Troy died Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Steve Rascoe officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Park on Highway 29 in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Newman of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Ronnie Head of Troy; son and daughter-in-law, David and Janice Newman of Talladega; grandchildren and their spouses, Mandy and Richard Young of Troy, Mark and Andrea Head of Troy, Brad and Amanda Newman of Marietta, Ga. and Matt Newman of Talladega; great-grandchildren, Justin and Will Young of Troy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean and Billy Gibson, Rebecca Railey, all of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Carolyn Townsend of Fort Walton.

James "Peter" McClendon, 41, of Tuskegee died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell’s Liptrot/Dawson Funeral Home.
