There’s a first time for everything and Roy Poole isn’t worried about being the first person to think a used truck and trailer business will go in Troy.
"Troy is a prime location for used truck and trailer sales," Poole said. "With the high volume of traffic on Highway 231 and the visibility of the location, I believe a business like this can succeed."
Poole should know.
His used truck and trailer business in Eufaula is doing well, so the fact that there has never been a business like his in Troy before does not cause him any worry.
"Used trucks and trailers are in demand and we’ve sold trucks all across the country from our Eufaula location," he said. "We’ve even shipped a truck to The Netherlands. We sell top of the line models – Peterbilt and Kenworth, day cabs and sleeper trucks. As for trailers, we specialize in lowboys and logging trailers and in steel and aluminum dumpers. And, we have storage trailers to rent or buy."
Roy Poole Truck and Trailer Sales is located on Highway 231 north of Troy and is open five and a half days a week.
"We have local financing available and we are hoping our truck and trailer business will be a real asset to to Troy," he said. "I was born and raised here. I graduated from Charles Henderson High School,
so Troy is home to me. That’s one of the main reasons I decided to locate my business here. I’ve lived in Eufaula for 21 years, but Troy is still home."
Prior to opening a truck and trailer sales business, Poole worked in construction and was a truck driver himself.
"I enjoyed being on the road and I know what it means to be behind the wheel of a good truck," he said. "That’s why everything we sell is the best equipment out there. I did a lot of local hauling and a good truck was important to me and I know a good truck is even more important to drivers who make long hauls. We want to provide a good, reputable business to anybody who wants a used truck or trailer and we’re looking forward to being back in Troy and doing business here."
Poole is at the Troy location almost every day and he invites his former schoolmates to stop by and visit him on the lot.
