Braves rock Pirates 10-0 in Troy Amateur Baseball League play

The Braves of the Troy Amateur Baseball League beat the Pirates 10-0 on Thursday night at Charles Henderson High School’s Frazier Field.

The Braves scored two runs in the first, one run in the second, four runs in the third, two runs in the fifth and closed out the game with one run in the sixth.

Shea Thomas had a hit in the first for the Braves, going 3-for-3 on the night. Jeff Hamer had a hit to score Steve Thrasher in the second. Thrasher and Rusty Russell each had hits in the third as Eric Sandesenceio, Thomas, Helment Rivers and Richard Smith all scored for the Braves. Jim McKenzie scored two more runners in the fifth with a hit and Thomas finished the game with a hit in the sixth to score Troy’s Jake Kirkland.

Rivers was the winning pitcher for Troy.

Today’s doubleheader will start at 2 p.m. with the Pirates playing the Red Sox and the Braves playing the Marlins in the follow-up game at 4:45 p.m.
