Maggie Lee Harris Jackson, 94, of the Springhill Community died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at her residence.

Services will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located off Elba Highway in Troy, with the Rev. Charlie L. Sankey officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Troy with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Jackson was born April 7, 1907 in Pike County to Tobe Harris and Emma Adams. She was a farmer and housewife. She was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Betty Jane Jones, Georgia Mae and Author Jackson, all of Troy, Mary Emma Freeman of Panama City, Fla.; two sons, Joe Tom Jackson of Panama City and Adell Jackson of Troy; 36 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Selma Jackson; five children; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Willie Junior Jackson, Ronnie Jackson, Larry Lee Jackson, Willie Charles Jones, Willie Albert Jackson, Ray Charles Jones and Joe Cephus Jackson. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Family and friends will serve as floralbearers.

Visitation will be noon until 6 p.m. today at Harrison Funeral Home.

Roy G. Wood

Roy G. Wood, 80, of Goshen died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen with the Rev. Tommy Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Wood was born Feb. 3, 1921 in Crenshaw County to James and Selena Wood. He attended Pike County Schools. He was a farmer and member of Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Mattie Ensley Wood of Goshen; one son, Herbert Pollard; two step daughters, Katrina and Chandia Ensley; one step son, Octavius Ensley; one sister, Idelia Olive; a devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Ensley; two grandchildren; five step grandchildren, three girls: Joloshada Berry, LaKyia Ensley, Kenyia Ensley, two boys, Chase Ensley, Ashely Ensley; a special niece, Nettie Turner; a special nephew, Gene Olive; other nephews, Billy Wood, Jim Olive, Clifford L. Wood, Jessie Olive, Jeffery Wood, Bobby Olive, Herbert Wood, George Olive, James Hayes, Harry Hayes and Corey Ensley; special nieces, Jewel Flower, Gussie Manigo, Beatrice Croswell, Jessie Herrod, Gail Wood, Mrytle T. Bryant, Willie Wood, Mary Wood, Johnnie Wood and Ola Lake, a devoted sister-in-law, Lelia Wood; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Olive Jr., Clifford Wood, Jeffery Woods, James Woods and Bobby Olive. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Woods, Jim Olive, James Hayes and Harry Hayes. Floralbearers will be Gracie Phillips, Denise McLeod, Gloria Brantley, Mamie Hill and Catherine Townsend.

Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today at Harrison Funeral Home.

Mittie B. Allen

Mittie B. Allen, 68, of Troy died Sunday, July 22, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 27 at Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Banks with the Rev. Lukie Stephens, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Church Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Allen was born July 1, 1932 in Pike County to Henry and Etta Hall. She attended Pike County public schools. She was a member of Beulah Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two children and a son-in-law, Randy Allen of Banks, Berlinda and R.L. Carlisle of Troy; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special friend, Arthur Goolsby of Troy; two sisters-in-law, Lois Foster and Inez Ray; two devoted and dear friends, Francis Goolsby and Jerry Goolsby of Banks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Allen, Calvin Allen, Ronald Allen, Dexter Bell, Carlos Carlisle, Darius Carlisle, R.L. Carlisle and Bruce Thomas. Ushers and family friends will serve as floralbearers.

Mrs. Rich Shipman McKinney

Mrs. Rich Shipman McKinney, 88, of New Jersey, formerly of Pike County, died Sunday, July 22, 2001 in New Jersey.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. McMillian, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

She was born to the union of Allen and Sally Carter Shipman in Pike County on March 21,1913.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Ann and Robert Coston of Union, N.J., Annie L. and Elijah Bethune of Bridgeport, Conn., James and Mariah McKinney of Saginaw, Mich.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Deacons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends will serve as floralbearers.
