Several members of Troy’s Tiger Sharks swim team qualified for the Alabama State Swim Meet which will be held in Dothan at Westgate Indoor Pool in Westgate Park on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28.

Eighteen of the 34 members who competed qualified by winning individual races at the District 8 Championship Swim Meet, which was held in Dothan on Tuesday, July 17.

"It is obvious from their qualifying times that we have many outstanding swimmers who will be representing the City of Troy," said Troy Mayor Jimmy Lunsford. "We’re very proud of each of the members of the Tiger Sharks swim team and wish those who are competing this weekend the best of luck. I encourage the community to support them at the state meet."

After the opening ceremonies at 9 a.m., swim team members will be competing in freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and /or backstroke.

Members of the Tiger Sharks that qualified are: Garrett Beeler, James Blickenstaff, Bill Chinberg, Kyle Daugherty, Ethan Davis, Thomas Dent, Emily Dent, Hayden Dunn, Gaige Garrett, Stormm Garrett, Rachel Gauspohl, Jordan Grief, Holt Ingalls, Connor Ingalls, Erin Jordan, Jenny Laliberte, and Bethany Welch.
