Teal pitches Nationals to win

EUFAULA – William Teal flirted with a perfect game as the Troy Nationals defeated Dothan American Blue, 10-0 Saturday in the Dixie Minor District Tournament at Eufaula.

Teal retired the first 11 batters before allowing a base runner in the bottom of the fourth inning. The 10-year old right-hander allowed only one hit in the five-inning contest, while walking two and striking out five.

The Nationals pounded out 13 hits, scoring two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth inning.

Jake Smith was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Nationals, while Will Starling and David Fleming each had two hits. Fleming’s two hits were doubles.

Alex Adams, Wesley Taylor, Anthony McBryde, Clay Massey, Corey Goodson and Lloyd Shillabeer each had one hit. Adams also had two RBIs.
