Indians drop one, win one in TABL

The Troy Pirates of the Troy Amateur Baseball League defeated the Midland City-Dothan Indians by the final score of 11-6 on Thursday night at Frazier Field.

The Indians led early 3-2, before the Pirates claimed the lead for good in the fourth inning on basehit single RBIs by Lee Baggett and Matt Calhoun. Troy got hits from Josh Hendrix and Wes Hamm also in the inning.

Brandon Davis had three singles for Troy, while Hendrix had a double, single and a home run. Chris Smith had a homer also for Troy.

Brad Garrett added two runs for Troy, while Bobby Hussey touched homeplate three times. Davis scored twice, as did Hendrix.

On Sunday afternoon the Indians scored seven runs in the first two innings of play and beat the league-leading Braves, 10-3.

The Braves’ Rusty Russell had a two RBI double in the fourth inning. Karl Condrey had two hits to lead the Indians.

The Indians scored 10 runs off of 11 hits while limiting the Braves to four hits on the night. The Braves also committed five errors to the Indians two.

On Thursday at 7 p.m., the Red Sox will play the Indians. Sunday action will feature a doubleheader with the Braves of Enterprise playing the Red Sox in the first contest and the Troy Marlins playing the Troy Pirates in the second game. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
