Braves and Pirates win two over weekend

In recent Troy Amateur Baseball League play, the Braves were able to edge the Marlins 7-4 and the Pirates beat the Red Sox 7-6.

The Braves were led by Thomas Shea, Eric Sanencenio and J. Kirkland who each had triples against the Marlins. Steve Whitaker and Rusty Russell also had hits for the Braves.

Todd Rivers was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits to the Pirates.

The Pirates’ James Henderson, Jerrick Lewis and Steve Garrett all had singles and Brent Newman had a double. Terrance Boyd had a three-run homer for the Pirates in the sixth inning.

Brent Newman was the Pirates’ losing pitcher.

In the second game, Brandon Henderson combined with Jonathan Tillery on the mound to lead the Pirates to a 7-6 win over the Red Sox from Skipperville-Ozark.

Brandon Davis and Chris Smith each had homers for the Pirates. Brad Garrett and a double, while Jason Floyd and Johnny Calhoun each had singles.

Jake Kirkland, Adam Prichett and D. McDaniel each had hits for the Red Sox. Kirkland was the losing pitcher.

The TABL resumes action tonight as the Indians take on the Pirates at 7 p.m. at Frazier Field.
