"I’d like to take my hat off to (head coach) Trip Bass and the Andalusia team," said Troy head coach Kenneth Carter. "They were well-coached, as was Elba. Both of those teams showed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament."

Tied 1-1, Andalusia scored four runs in the third inning to win the first game 5-2, spoiling Troy’s chances of claiming the title outright. Andalusia scored all four of those runs off one hit, when Troy got into a bases loaded jam.

In the rematch, however, Troy found its offense, taking an early 2-1 lead and exploding for six runs in the second inning and seven in the third. Troy’s seven-run third inning came courtesy of just two hits. Andalusia was able to make it a close game, scoring six runs in the fourth inning, but winning pitcher Kasee Carter closed out the game for Troy without allowing any more runs.

Erica Henderson had two hits to lead Troy, while Carter, Bobbi Jo Strother, Kelli Ann Sanders, Jodi Long, Keyani Foster, Jazmen Seymore and Courtney Kelly each had hits as well.

Troy finished sub-district play with a 4-1 record.
