National, American league Minors continue to win

Both the Troy American and National teams continued to chalk up wins in their respective Dixie Minor Sub-District Tournaments held on Tuesday night.

Troy American, playing in the the sub-district tourney in Enterprise, beat Geneva 12-2, while the Troy Nationals won 15-7 over Luverne in Highland Home.

Troy American played the Elba American team on Thursday night and Troy National played Greenville.

Troy took advantage of 10 Geneva errors and, after being down 2-0 in the first inning, came back to score 10 straight runs. All but one Troy batter reached base and the Americans were led at the plate by Quavian Lawson’s two-hit effort. Parker Sanders, Bradley Floyd, Dario Rouse and Douglas Hawkins each had hits also for Troy.

Floyd came in as relief for Rouse to help get Troy out of bases loaded, one-out jam. Logan Stewart pitched the final innings for Troy.

Luverne played the Troy National team close for a good part of Tuesday night’s game, before Troy scored eight runs in the fifth inning to take control of the contest.

Will Starling led Troy with two hits in the game. William Teal, Wesley Taylor, Anthony McBride, Clay Massey and Wesley Hayes all had one hit each for the Troy Nationals.

Jake Smith, Alex Adams and Teal combined on the mound to give up six hits against Luverne, while totalling 10 strike outs.
