Both Dixie Minor teams start tourneys with wins

The Troy Dixie Minor National team opened up the sub-district tournament in Highland Home with a 14-4 win over Brantley.

Alex Adams and Ross Hixon led the Troy National team with two hits each, while William Teal, Will Starling and Wesley Taylor each had hits also.

Jake Smith recorded four strike outs in two innings pitched while giving up one hit for Troy. Hixon closed the game, striking out two batters and allowing four hits.

The Troy National team played Luverne in the late contest on Tuesday night. A win in that game and Troy will take on Greenville on Thursday.

The Troy American team took a 16-4 win over the Enterprise Nationals at the America Sub-District tournament in Enterprise, which also started on Monday night.

Troy had seven hits and took advantage of 12 Enterprise walks and two errors.

Logan Stewart led the Troy Americans at the plate with two hits on the night. Clifton Brady, Parker Sanders, Dontae Harris, Justin Senn and Bradley Floyd each had hits also for Troy.

Floyd, Brady and starting pitcher Dario Rouse combined on the mound to give up just four hits against Enterprise. Brady struck out the side in the fifth to end the game for Troy and gave up only one walk.

Troy American played Geneva in second-round action late Tuesday night.
