The Troy State Radio Network has changed its format for the 2001 football season, adding a fourth member to the broadcast team while expanding its postgame format to include a call-in show.

Former Alabama football player and current Montgomery sports talk show host Roger Shultz will join the broadcast team as the network’s studio host. He will provide in-game score updates and reports from games around the nation while also serving as host of the network’s pregame, halftime and postgame reports.

Color analyst Phil Paramore, the host of a Dothan sports talk show, will return to the team this year after a three-year break, replacing Lance Sasser. Paramore previously served in the same role during the 1996 and 1997 seasons.

Shultz and Paramore join longtime play-by-play announcer Ralph Black and sideline reporter Jerry Miller to round out the broadcast team.

"We are excited about this year’s group and our decision to expand the length of the postgame show," Troy State Athletics Director Johnny Williams said. "We believe the format will be positive for our fans and extremely informative and entertaining. We look forward to seeing it grow even more in future years."

In past years, the network has used a 30-minute slot for both pregame and postgame. This season, however, an hour-long format will be used for each postgame show, which will include a 30-minute call-in segment. Shultz will take calls from listeners to discuss Troy State football and the day’s game.

The network will have approximately 15-20 affiliates this season. A final list of affiliates will be released later this summer.
