TSU’s Green awarded scholarship

Troy State University senior Michael Green has been awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in the amount of

$5,000 for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at a university or professional school of his choice. He has until Aug. 15, 2004, to begin use of the award.

Twenty-nine male student-athletes at all three levels of the NCAA were awarded the scholarship.

A native of Lancashire, England, Green adds the scholarship to an array of honors that includes the 1998 Academic All-District team and six consecutive Academic All-TAAC awards in cross country and track & field.

"Michael is the student-athlete every coach dreams of having," TSU Director of Track Bob Lambert said. "His work ethic is outstanding and he is by far the best athlete I’ve had at Troy State."

Green’s athletic accomplishments include the 1998, 1999 and 2000 TAAC Cross Country individual titles, six TAAC track & field crowns and the 1999 TAAC Male Athlete of the Year award. Two weeks ago he earned three all-conference honors at the TAAC Track & Field Championships, raising his career total to 13 over the last four years.

Green currently holds a 3.94 GPA in sport and fitness management.
