John Arthur Bowen, 51, of Troy died Monday, April 23, 2001 at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Joe Leverett officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in the Ebenezer Community with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Brooks Bowen of Troy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Bowen of Troy, Jennifer and Jackie Hornsby of Brundidge, Jeanette and Darrin Johnson of Banks; two grandchildren, Lance and Abby Johnson; mother, Clara Mae Bowen of Troy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeannie and Don Hallford of Troy, Bobbie and Rex Brooks of Union Springs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Bowen.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Department of Transportation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Elisha Preston Dease

Elisha Preston Dease, 70, of Opelika died Monday, April 23, 2001.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 26 at Ramah Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Oakes officiating, Gray Funeral Home of Union Springs directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Perry Dease; one daughter, Susan Dease of Phenix City; two granddaughters; one brother, Perry Junior Dease of Salem; four sisters, Ola D. Oakes, Myrtie D. Pope, both of the Aberfoil Community, Betty Wombles of Phenix City and Emma D. Wilson of Dundee, Fla.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Gray Funeral Home.

Anthony Todd Pennington

On Saturday, April 21, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center, Todd Pennington, 19, of Troy, departed this life to an eternal life of perfect peace and everlasting joy.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. L.C. McMillian officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Banks with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Todd was born March 15, 1982 in Troy. He was the youngest son of John Tom and Ellouise Pennington. Survivors include his parents, a brother, John Tom Pennington Jr.; a sister, Quanisha Suddith; grandmothers, Addie Bell Pennington of Banks and Annie Jewel Grider of Troy; great-grandmother, Rushie Mae Starks of Troy; aunts, Mellonease Clark of Dothan; Eunice Dunn of Troy, Patricia Thomas of Perote, and Willie Cecil Grider of Montgomery; great aunts, Mary Blackmon, Leslie Moulton and Lena Russ; uncles, Charlie Dunn of Troy, Willie James Grider of Bradenton, Fla., R.D. Boykin, Jesse Starks and Henry Grider; very special cousins, Ayanna Thomas, Shameka Hobdy, Tanya Clark, Timothy Clark, Selena Grider, Rodney Grider, Douglas Norris Wilson and Derrick Patterson; a very special friend, Makalia Wingard and a host of other relatives and friends.

Todd was a member of the Charles Henderson High School Class of 2001, and he was a member of the Beulah Hill Baptist Church.

Mollie W. Johnson

Mollie W. Johnson, a resident of Pike Manor Health Care Facility, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. C.L. Sankey officiating. Burial will be at Union Springs Cemetery in Brundidge with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsha A. Williams of Troy; three sisters, Johnnie Holt and Arthur M. McCullough of Troy and Ruby McNeal of Detroit, Mich.; seven granchildren, Christopher King and Victor King of Detriot, Johnathan King of Montgomery, Demetris Williams of Lexington, Ky., Renee King, Tanya Williams and Shanda King of Troy; five great-grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, Blonzell Byrd, Mary Holt, Queen Terry, Walter and Emma McGuire and several other nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.

Ms. Johnson was born Feb. 7, 1915 in Pike County to Bama and Jack Williams. She attended the public schools of Pike County. She was a retiree of Troy State University after being employed there for 25 years. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Her hobbies were fishing and gardening.

Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons. Floralbearers will be friends of the family.

Visitation will be held at noon Thursday, April 26 at the George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.
