After blowing a four-run lead in the bottom of the seventh against Red Level in a game with major playoff implications last week, the Goshen High School Eagles took its frustrations out on the field in convincing fashion with a 17-0 pounding over the Georgiana High School Panthers at Eagle Field Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore pitcher Wesley Wright threw a complete game no-hitter over five innings to earn the win. Wright walked three batters and struck out 13 as the Eagles earned their first shutout of the season.

Wright was economical throughout the afternoon as he only threw 70 pitches over five innings. In addition, Wright had tremendous control throwing 49 strikes compared to only 21 balls against the Panthers.

The Eagles provided Wright with plenty of offensive support throughout the afternoon. Wright helped himself leading the way at the plate going 3-for-4 coming up a home run short of the cycle while scoring

three times and driving in four runs. Michael Hatten, Averick Rogers and Jason Burgans each went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs apiece in the winning effort. Hatten also contributed by scoring three runs for the Eagles (4-9). Reserve Chad Sanders scored three runs and had a hit for GHS.

After playing at Georgiana Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles

conclude the 2001 regular season this afternoon when they host Highland Home. The first pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Goshen.
