It’s time to tee off with the Pike County Chamber of Commerce at the second annual Pike County Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament.
Golf enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity show off their golfing skills and network with other business people in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.
We’re going to have a great time," said Alton Starling, chairman of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament. ‘It’s a business appreciation tournament and we’re getting a lot of businesses. It will be fun for them to interact with others on the course."
Tee off is at 1 p.m. Monday, April 2 at the Troy Country Club Golf Course. Twenty-two four-person teams will show their skill on the course against other area business people. The fee to participate in the tournament is $75 per person.
"We still have space for more teams," Starling said. "We are signing up full teams and individuals. If you want to play on a team, but don’t have one, call the Chamber and we’ll assign you to a team. Just have your handicap ready."
The Pike County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the tournament for members who live and work in Pike County, but this year they are reaching outside of county lines and inviting businesses who work in the county but are not located in the county.
‘We have several businesses that work and have services in Pike County," Starling said. "We are inviting them to be a part of the tournament also."
If just getting out of the office for a day on the course isn’t enough to get you interested, the prizes that will be awarded should be the incentive you need.
"There will be a $5,000 prize for a hole-in-one," Starling said. "There will also be prizes awarded to men and women for longest drive and closest to the pin. And prizes will be awarded to the team with the lowest score."
Local businesses are still needed and encouraged to sponsor different holes along the tournament course. Starling said sponsored holes will have a "nice sign with the business name on it." Businesses who are interested in sponsoring a hole must call the Chamber office by this Friday.
"The Chamber is hosting this tournament to show businesses and industries in Pike County how much they are appreciated," Starling said. "All we need is for people to come out an join us. Fourteen teams have already signed up and there is only room for eight more teams. It’s filling up fast so call the Chamber today and reserve a spot for your team or sign up to be placed on a team."
The last day to sign up for the tournament is Monday, March 26.
Anyone interested in signing up for the tournament or sponsoring hole should contact the Pike County Chamber of Commerce at 566-2294.
