J.T. Smith, 86, of Troy died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Keith Reynolds officiating. Burial was at Green Hills Memorial Park on Highway 29 in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, June and Charles Giddens of Millbrook, Brenda and Lyle Orr of Phoenix, Ariz., Bonnie Richardson of Troy, Patricia and Scott Sharpe of Troy; grandchildren, Deric, Dan and Michael Giddens, Curtis and Brandon Orr, Jeff Richardson and Bryant Sharpe; great-grandchildren, Emily and Paul Giddens, Harleigh Wood, Teaghan Sharpe and Dariene Sharpe; sisters, Frances Carroll, Ruby Berry and Emma Lee Owens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Carroll; granddaughter, Stefanie Sharpe and grandson, Greg Richardson.
