The Charles Henderson Soccer team ran into a very physical Houston Academy squad on Tuesday night and fell 5-1 to the visitors. Houston Academy built a 3-0 lead in the first ten minutes of play of the opening half with a relentless offense.
CHHS finally got on the board at the 18:13 mark on a goal by Kevin Gates, his first of the season.
Houston Academy scored two more goals to close out the scoring at the 8:51 mark.
Preston Hayden turned back 44 shots at the goal for the Trojans, but the Trojans were outshot 49-18.
A great defensive effort by CHHS, playing in a zone, kept the game from getting away.
Bill Chinberg, Spencer Salmon, Keivan Ettefagh and Jenny Laliberte made huge contributions on the defensive side of the ball.
The Trojans will be on the road for the next seven games, starting on today at St. James. Game time is 5 p.m.
CHHS’s next home game will be April 4th against Stanhope-Elmore.
