Both the Charles Henderson boy’s and girl’s basketball teams were victorious in their Class 5A Area 4 championship games on Tuesday night over Eufaula.
With the two wins, both the Lady Trojans and Trojans will return to Troy to host sub-regional action, starting tonight with CHHS taking on Russell County in the girl’s game. The boy’s contest will be between the Trojans and Booker T. Washington on Friday night.
The Trojans (14-9) edged Eufaula 65-64, thanks in large part to three straight free throws by junior center Matt Brown in overtime. Jermaine Jackson added 26 points and LaKory Daniels chipped in 13.
The Lady Trojans (13-8) also won a close game over the Lady Tigers. CHHS won 53-51 and were led by Kelly Miller’s game-high 24 points. Clarissa Parker pulled down a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jenean Deveridge added 12 points.
