Trojans golf team 16th at Beau Rivage Classic

In its first event of the spring season, the Troy State men’s golf team is in 16th place after 36 holes at the Beau Rivage College Classic.

The 16-team tournament, which is hosted by Southern Mississippi, is being played on the par-72, 6,600 yard Windance Country Club at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino.

TSU opened the day with a 318 in the morning round and turned in a 308 in the afternoon. Sam Houston State leads the 16-team field at 595, two shots ahead of Tennessee at 597. South Florida was the only other school to post a sub-600 score as they recorded a 36-hole score of 599.

Individually, Matt Johnson leads the Trojan attack with a 76-78-154 total and is currently tied for 35th place. Jared Purvis is tied for 57th at 76-81-157 and Ryan Campbell is tied for 71st at 84-76-160.

Cleve Daniels and Micah Holley are both tied for 77th after firing matching 161s.
