Troy woman dies after weekend stabbing

A Troy woman is dead and her daughter-in-law has been charged in connection with the stabbing.

Geraldine S. Joseph, 50, was at home when she was stabbed at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday. She later died at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Stephanie Yvonne Joseph, 29, of Troy has been arrested in connection with the incident and charged with murder.

According to information released by the Troy Police Department, officers responded to a call received at 1:06 p.m. and arrived three minutes later.

Geraldine Joseph had called the police because of an altercation with her daughter-in-law.

Upon arrival at the residence officers found Joseph, who had been stabbed once in the chest, outside the residence. She was transported by ambulance to ERMC’s emergency room.

The suspect was still at the scene, but police officials refused to say whether or not she confessed to the crime.

Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the police department, said the incident report indicated the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute between the two women.

Geraldine Joseph and her husband have custody of Stephanie Joseph’s two children.

Stephanie Joseph was transferred to the Pike County Jail under a $50,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation by the police department.
