It was reported by a Oregon newspaper that Troy State has added Portland State as the fourth home game on the Trojans 2001 football schedule.
An article in Saturday’s edition of the Oregonian stated that the Vikings, a 1-AA school that posted an 8-4 mark last year and made their first appearance in the playoffs, will visit Troy State’s Richard M. Scrushy Field in Memorial Stadium on Sept. 8.
It was also reported that the Trojans will pay Portland State a $70,000 payout for the game.
That leaves the Trojans with two open dates remaining on their schedule and nine total games. Other home games scheduled are against Appalachian State (Sept. 15), Southern Utah (Oct. 20), and Jacksonville State (Nov. 17).
Troy State opens the season at Nebraska in Lincoln.
