Loretta McGrady Moultry

Loretta McGrady Moultry, 54, of Troy died Jan. 17, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church on Hubbard Street in Troy with the Rev. Carl L. Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Wood cemetery in Troy.

Mrs. Moultry was born Aug. 31, 1946 in Troy to Garfield and Mary Ruth (Doll) McGrady. She attended Oakland Heights Junior High and graduated from Academy Street School in 1964. She was a machine operator in New York, Fruit of the Loom, Brundidge; Pike Manufacturing in Troy; South Land Coffee Co., Ala.; Sister’s Schubert’s in Luverne, and Home Health Services in Troy. Mrs. Moultry was a member of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church Sunday School Adult Class, Treasure (sick) Missionary Society and president of the Matron Department.

Survivors include her husband Jessie Frank Moultry; two sons, Sean (Latrice) McGrady of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Reginal Moultry of Troy; a granddaughter, Kearrin Moultry; five sisters, Alberta Smith, Mary Emma Sneed, Mattie McGrady of Troy; Vivian (James) Lawrence of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Jayfield and Legwin (Anna) McGrady of Troy, Willie Albert (Olivia) McGrady of Latonia, Ga.; mother-in-law, Oline Moultry; father-in-law, John Moultry of Troy; a sister-in-law, Jessie Moultry of Troy; brothers-in-law, Johnny (Christine) Moultry of Montgomery, James Robert (Carolyn) Moultry, L.D. Moultry of Troy, Douglas L. Moultry of Chicago, Ill.; an uncle, Sewell (Sammie) McGrady of Troy, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 22, 2001.

Artha Mae Vincent

Artha Mae Vincent of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Jan. 16, 2001 at Avon Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. E.F. Boyd and Son Funeral Homes directed the service.

Mrs. Vincent graduated from Alabama State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. She also received her Master’s Degree in Education from Cleveland State University. Mrs. Vincent taught Science/Biology for more 20 years in the Cleveland Public School System. She taught at both Robert Jamison Jr. High and Wilbur Wright Jr. High School. Mrs. Vincent continued her educational career by serving for eight years as an assistant principal for Wilbur Wright Jr. High in Cleveland.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Vincent received many awards and recognitions. She was a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar in 1978-79, 1984-85, and 1987-88. She received the Outstanding Physical Science Teacher Award in 1988. Mrs. Vincent served as the Science Department Chairperson at Wilbur Wright. She was also recognized in the 1992 edition of "Who’s Who Among American Teachers" book. Mrs. Vincent also served faithfully in several capacities at the Avon Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the chairperson of the Board of Trustees for nine years. She also served as the Director of the Christian Board of Education and as a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Vincent was also a member of the Alabama State University Alumnae Association.

Survivors include her husband, Charles J.; a son, Edward Jerome; granddaughter, Brandi Evette; five sisters- Loretta (Alfred) Alloway, Alice Lois (Joe) Green, Sara Ann (Izear) Johnson, Marie Potts, Ruby Lee (McArthur) Burden all of Troy, Alabama; two brothers- Eddie Sylvester (Shirley) Potts of Troy, and Jeffrey (Jane) Potts of Fredricksburg, Va.; mother-in-law, Daisy Vincent of Alberta, and a host of other loving family members and friends.
