Sarah Starling Singleton, 92, of Troy died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel of Troy with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers will be Ricky McLendon, Robert Singleton, Buddy Starling, David Starling, Joe Walters and Melvin Wilkes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam S. Singleton; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jarel Starling; brothers, Russell Starling, Charles M. Starling and H. Glen Starling.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Fred Walters of Troy; son, Bobby Singleton of Albany, Ga.; sister, Annie Claire McDonald of Burleson, Texas; four brothers: Shelby Starling of Anniston, Pugh Starling of Troy, Edwin Starling of Concord, Calif. and Sidney Starling of Troy; six grandchildren: Freddie Walters, Cathy McLendon Pagallo, Pam Walters, Robert Singleton, Vicki Singleton and Boyd Owens; several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Clarence LaDon (C.L.) Golden, M.D.

Clarence LaDon (C.L.) Golden, M.D., 75, of Jackson’s Gap, formerly of Brundidge, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000 at East Alabama Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at Salem Baptist Church. Burial will be a Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Dr. Golden was born in Clio on Nov. 3, 1925. He graduated from Auburn University, attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and did his residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. He had a general practice of medicine in Brundidge from 1954 until he retired in 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.D. and Viola Golden and a brother, Sam Golden.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances Jernigan Golden; two daughters and son-in-law, Anne Stafford and Susan and Tommy Majors; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and City Golden and John and Jonette Golden; 12 grandchildren: Ben, Fran, Rosemary and John Stafford, James and Clair Majors, Jessica, Andy and Will Golden and Ken, Julie and Jennifer Golden; sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Don Posey; two nephews, David and Jim Posey; six sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and their families.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church or Wayside Baptist Church in Alexander City.
