James Arthur Brown, 62, of Troy died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 at his home.

Services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy. Burial was at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers were Tommy Peacock, Buddy Hendrix, Randy Scarbrough, Wayne Davis, Furnie Jordan and Scott Dunn. Honorary pallbearers were William Steinkempt, Jimmy Messick, James Johnson and Wayne Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Brown of Troy; daughter, Melissa Duncan of Troy; two sons, Randy Brown and Chris Brown, both of Troy; sister, Evelyn Borom of Troy and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Josephine Davis Garrett

Josephine Davis Garrett, 90, of Troy died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Ken May and Dr. Don Nerren officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers will be Robert Armstrong, David Barringer, Rilly Benson, Charles Daivs, Kenneth Davis and Jimmy Warren. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Southside Ladies 5 Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Samuel T. Garrett of Mobile.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Billie Jo and Murray Howard of Troy; grandchild, Marie White of Ashland; fiancé, Greg Adair; sisters: Margaret Warren of Birmingham, Antinoette Zellemer of Atlanta, Ideolette Nerren of Tupelo, Miss.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering of Southside Baptist Church.

Basil Robert Fernandez

Basil Robert Fernandez, 84, of Grady died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center East.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000 at Ramer United Methodist Church with the Revs. Larry Bennett and Sean Rezek. Burial will be at Dublin Cemetery in Grady with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25 at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, Fernandez and son, Morgan Fernandez.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert B. and Kathy Fernandez of Baltimore, Md., Frank and Faye Ann Fernandez of Grady and Basil A. and Victoria Fernandez of Sharpsburg, Ga.; three sisters: Anita Aznar of Indiana, Nena Jurcic of Indiana and Lola Koster of Michigan; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Dollie B. Pope

Dollie B. Pope, 93, of Troy died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 at her home.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Dr. Malone Chandler officiating. Burial was at Harmony Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers were James Howard, Allan Niesen, Bernard Pope, Billy Pope, David Pope and Kenneth Prevatte. Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Howard, Joe Prevatte, Harry Niesen and Grover Poole.

Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Olan Cary "Bud" Pope, son Bobby Pope and grandson, Ronald Pope.

Survivors include children and their spouses: Molen and Grover Poole of Troy, Jean and Joe Prevatte of Pine Level, Bernard Pope of Henderson, Mary Jane and Harry Niesen of Birmingham, Billy Pope of Troy, Marie and Sonny Howard of Troy and David Pope of Troy; daughter-in-law, Nell Collins of Dothan; 14 grandchildren: Ann Swindall of Houston, Texas, Gayle Dunn of Troy, Kenny Prevatte of Dothan, Karen Eubank of Birmingham, Kelly Ogburn of McAllen, Texas, Daryle Pope of Albany, Ga., Freida Swicord of Dothan, Penny Messick

of Troy, Pam Grissette of Troy, Dean Niesen of Birmingham, Alan Niesen of Mt. Olive, James Howard of Troy, Brendon Pope of Troy and Christy Howard of Aurora, Col.; 41 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; sister, Lorena McKeown of Martinez, Calif. and special caretakers, Laura, Lee and Minnie Wilson.
