CHMS girls beat Dauphin on last second

The Charles Henderson Middle School girl’s team beat Dauphin Middle School of Enterprise on Tuesday night 27-26 on a last second shot by Mary Peyton Gilbert.

It was the first defeat in over two years for Dauphin.

The Lady Trojans lead just twice in the game; by two points in the third and on Gilbert’s shot at the buzzer.

Leading scorers for the CHMS girls were Samantha Johnson with eight points and Gilbert and Quoya Dubose each had five points.

In the boys game, CHMS crushed Dauphin 50-15 and were led by Quavian Lewis with 22 points and Joey Moultry with 10.

CHMS led 15-0 in the first quarter and cruised from there.

 

On Thursday, Nov. 9 the CHMS girls squad beat the Pike County Lady Bulldogs 57-14.

The Lady Trojans led 15-1 in the first, 26-8 at halftime and 40-11 in the third.

Mary Peyton Gilbert had 12 points and Mallory Sanders was second leading scorer with eight. Quoya DuBose had six point for CHMS.

In the boys game, Quavian Lewis led the Trojans with 18 points as CHMS beat Pike County 52-22.

Martesi Carlisle was second for the Trojans with eight points.

Jacoby Andrews had 10 points to lead the Bulldogs.
