Eleanor Herlong Burnett, 60, of Troy died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000 at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy with the Revs. Danny Doss and Jim Dannelly officiating, Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Kindergarten teachers at Troy Elementary School will be honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Burnett was a lifelong resident of Troy. She attended Troy Lab School, Troy High School and graduated from Troy State University with a master’s and AA. Mrs. Burnett was teaching at the Troy Early Childhood Center at the time of her death. She had been teaching kindergarten for 40 years in Troy. She was an active supporter of the Troy Public Library, a member of First United Methodist Church of Troy and president of Phi Delta Kappa Teachers Honor Society.

Survivors include her husband, Barney Burnett of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Clark Dailey of Pike Road; son and daughter-in-law, Tully and Jamie Burnett of Troy; sister and brother-in-law, Betsy and Driscoll Colquett of Troy; grandchildren, Jenna Burnett, Will Dailey and Betsey Dailey; nieces, Elizabeth (Brett) Stallworth and Elly (Jason) Reeves; nephew, Adam Webb; great-niece and nephew, Lacey Stallworth and Will Reeves.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bettie Herlong.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Troy Public Library or the Eleanor Burnett Memorial Fund at the Troy Early Childhood Center, P.O. Box 708, Troy, AL 36081.

Visitation will be 2-3:45 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
