Thomas Manning Lang Sr., 46, of Shady Lane in Brundidge died Oct. 17, 2000 in an automobile accident.

Graveside services with military honors were at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery with the Revs. Winston Brooks and James Moultry officiating, Skeen Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann Lang of Oxford; one son, Thomas Lang Jr. of Tuscaloosa; daughters and sons-in-law: Shannon and Chuck Whitt III of Oxford, Sheila and Ronald Ford of Oxford, Carol McAlten of Deatsville, Francis Dianne Lang of Oxford, Marie and Johnny Downing of Brundidge, Bonnie and O’neal Smith of North Carolina, Mary Tom and Wayne Ragsdale of Troy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and Travis Meeks of Troy, Lois and Freddy Turner of Brundidge; three brothers: Noah Lang, Cole Lang, both of Montgomery, and George and Kaye Lang of Fairfield, Mo.; life-long companion and best friend, Judy Allen of Brundidge; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one aunt, Maebelle Dison of Prattville.

Serving as pallbearers were: Johnny Downing, James H. Grace, Edward Davis, Ashley Register, Kenny Schmick and Chuck Whitt III.

Effie Crete Wilson

Effie Crete Wilson, 95, of Pike Manor Health Care Center, formerly of Brundidge, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 at Pike Manor Health Care Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge with the Rev. Cliff Allred. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Myra Wilson of Brundidge and Nettie Wilson of Montgomery; one son-in-law, Joe M. "Rip" Ray of Brundidge; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Mark Aldridge, Mike Wilson, Joe Jehle, Woody Trimble, Jimmy Wilson and Jabe Wilson.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Donald Owens

Donald Owens, 65, of Gulfport, Miss. died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 in Gulfport.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport.

Mr. Owens was born in Jack and had been a resident of Gulfport for 20 years. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW for 43 years. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 119 of Gulfport and the VFW in Gulfport for the past 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Owens of Gulfport; a daughter, Donna Jones of Lansdowne, Pa.; a son, Donald Owens Jr. of San Francisco, Calif.; two sisters, Minnie Ola Wambles of Jack and Nell Whitehead of Columbus, Ga.; four brothers: Wesley Owens of Columbus, Drexel Owens of Birmingham, Hubert Owens of Opelika and Jimmy Owens of Jack; two grandchildren.
