With the weather nice and "fall like," it is hard to imagine people not taking advantage of the fair this weekend.

Being able to take the family out to the fair – a low-cost outing – only seems like the right thing to do.

There will be entertainment for everyone, from toddler to adult and the fair offers the promise of great fun, food and excitement.

Add in the fact proceeds go to benefit the Pike County Shriners, and the value to the area is even greater.

The Shriners sponsor hospitals throughout the country and those hospitals are well-known for having saved the lives of many people, including children, a specialty of Shriners hospitals.

Long known for the tradition of caring, the Shriners sponsor the fair each year as a way to raise money to do so many of the wonderful projects members are able to do.

So stop by the fairgrounds this week and get a whiff of the popcorn, cotton candy and all the other smells that are part of any fair. Take a look at the exhibits, ride some of the rides and simply enjoy the county fair while it’s here.

After all, you don’t want to have to wait an entire year to get another chance at this opportunity.
