Alabama Christian quarterback passes for 358 yards in win

MONTGOMERY – Hamp Russell of Alabama Christian Academy passed for 358 yards and four touchdowns to move into the prep football spotlight selected by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

A survey of football games statewide is made weekly.

Russell completed 25 of 44 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-0 victory over Montgomery Academy. His scoring passes went for 68, 2, 15 and 53 yards. The win marked Alabama Christian’s first win over its city rival in 15 years.

Jermonty Kimbrough of Blount completed 15 of 22 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown and ran for 113 yards and two more TDs in a 30-14 victory over Citronelle.

Anthony Harris ran 28 times for 288 yards and three touchdowns in Demopolis’ 43-32 win over Chilton County.

Brett Borden of Phil Campbell hit 15 of 24 passes for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns, rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, and returned an interception 35 yards in a 21-7 triumph over Winston County.

Keldrick Williams of Sidney Lanier rushed for 213 yards and four second-half touchdowns in a 36-28 come-from-behind victory over Pelham.

Josh Russell completed 10 of 25 passes for 288 yards and five touchdowns in Sumiton Christian’s 49-12 win over Spring Garden.

Decatur’s defense limited Sparkman to 31 yards of total offense in a 24-3 win.

Ramon Nelson passed for 274 yards and four touchdowns in Theodore’s 38-23 victory over Alma Bryant.

Jeffery Brothers of Bradshaw rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown (46 yards) and returned two punts for touchdowns (93 and 33 yards) in a 31-19 win over Buckhorn, led by William Stone’s 196 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns.

Randy Woods completed 12 of 20 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns as J.O. Johnson surprised Russellville 20-15.

B. J. Cook of Wetumpka ran 15 times for 245 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-14 triumph over B.T. Washington.

Corey Stallworth, who hit 15-0f 30 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, hit Vincent Murphy on a two-point conversion in J.F. Shields’ 42-40 overtime win over Coffeeville.

Patrick Byrne of T. R. Miller passed for 230 yards and a touchdown in a 34-14 victory over Jackson.

Billy Stover piled up 242 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns in Lawrence County’s 42-8 win over Madison County.

DiQuane Mitchell of Luverne rushed for 211 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-28 triumph over Flomaton.

Ed Stallworth, averaging 44 yards on four punts, had two punts downed at the 2-yard line that led to touchdowns in Daphne’s 30-13 win over Vigor.

Justin Black scored on a 93-yard run and had a game-saving interception in the end zone with 1:14 left to play in Tanner’s 6-0 victory over Cold Springs.

Josh Crouch of Washington County completed 11 of 20 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, ran for 3-yard TD and a two-point conversion in a 44-28 win over W.S. Neal.

Jason Allen ran for 155 yards and three touchdowns and returned an interception 83 yards for another TD in Muscle Shoals’ 35-8 victory over Lee-Huntsville.

Brandon Cox of Hewitt-Trussville hit 14 of 23 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown in a 38-12 win over Arab.

Richard Terry of Satsuma passed for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 28-14 loss to Foley.

Tyler Dawson scored on a 42-yard run, a 55-yard pass reception and a 45-yard interception return in Excel’s 33-8 win over McIntosh.
