Jax State soccer drops TSU team

TROY – Troy State soccer (1-6, 0-2 TAAC) lost its second Trans America Conference match of the season to Jacksonville State (5-4, 2-0 TAAC) at Trojan Soccer Field on Saturday.

The Lady Trojan defense held off the visiting Lady Gamecocks for the first 50 minutes of play. After a scoreless first half, Ashley Martin (50:00), Angela Tribble (54:00) and Jill Dick (76:00) each scored a goal for Jacksonville State to secure its second conference victory of the year.

Defender Kim Boler, a Birmingham native, led Troy State with three shots for the day. Ashley French, Bridget Boykin, Lori McClendon and Courtney Dennis each added a shot apiece for the Lady Trojans. Goalkeeper Jessica Murphy, a senior from Daphne, Ala., had 11 saves in 90 minutes.

Troy States five-game homestand will continue on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against Nicholls State at Trojan Soccer Field.
