Bulldogs 2-0 in region

Pike County won the battle of the ‘Dawgs Friday night, defeating Lafayette 35-6 and improving to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in regional play.

The Bulldogs used the running of seniors Durane Flowers and Tyrone Boyd to turn a 13-6 halftime lead into a route. Flowers finished the game with 149 yards on 20 carries and Boyd had 80 yards on 18 attempts.

Flowers struck first for Pike County, scoring from three-yards out to cap off an 83-yard drive with 7:34 left in the second quarter.

Back came Lafayette, with Enrice Billingsley scoring on a one-yard run, but the PAT was blocked by PCH’s Sam Diggs.

The game seemed headed to halftime with the Bulldogs up just 7-6 over the home team, but Boyd picked off a Kareem Harrington pass and raced 56-yards for the touchdown. Jeremy Lampley’s kick was wide left and Pike County led 13-6 with just 1:11 left in the first half.

In the second, Marquez Foster scored on a one-yard touchdown run and Flowers added the two-point conversion. Flowers set up the touchdown with a 13-yard pass to Shanton Redmon.

Flowers scored his second touchdown of the night, this time from 11-yards out, with 9:33 left in the fourth quarter.

Joe Copes recovered a Lafayette fumble and Boyd finished the scoring for Pike County with a 38-yard touchdown run.
