James Eddie Culpepper, 60, of Union Springs died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000 at the Bullock County Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 at Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Union Springs with the Rev. Thomas Roughton officiating. Burial will be at Sandfield Cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Culpepper; five children and their spouses: Hazel and Doug Halliburton of Orange, Texas, Michael Culpepper of Andalusia, Randall and Joie Culpepper of Goshen, Deborah and Bill Atwell of Abbeville and Alicia and james Wicker of Union Springs; 11 grandchildren: Jacquelyn Culpepper, Shaliesha Culpepper, Amber Cooper, Lee Cooper, Lori Cooper, Haden Culpepper, Danielle Culpepper, Torey Culpepper, Allison Culpepper, Shawn Wicker, Ashley Wicker; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Frances Culpepper of Abbeville, Jr. and Ann Culpepper of Union Springs; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Genie Coffield of Eufaula and Judy and Leon Singleton of Union Springs; sister-in-law, Judy (Dan) Welch; brother-in-law, Tommy (Suzy) McVay of Hendersonville, Tenn.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sept. 1 at Gray Funeral Home.
Annie Lee Hobdy
Annie Lee Hobdy, 76, of Troy died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 at Friendship Baptist Church in Glenwood with the Rev. Henry Carnegie (Rev. J.M. Bryant-pastor). Burial will will be at the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
She was born in Pike County to John Reese and Lether Simmos. She attended Pike County Schools and worked as a cook and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sherika Q. Nelson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lee Ester and Milton Nelson of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary and Ray Burrage of Southfield, Mich.; two grandchildren, Thomas L. Nelson of Jacksonville, Fla. and Roland N. Brundidge of Oak Park, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Thomas L. Nelson II of Jacksonville, Fla. and Brianan N. Thomas of Gainsville, Fla.; one step-daughter, Mary A. Davenport of Fort Walton, Fla.; four step-grandsons; 10 step-great-grandchildren; four sisters and their spouses: Jessie Alloway of Sanford, Fla., Tessie and John Barnett of Pensacola, Fla., Lizzie J. Reese of Detroit, Mich. and Essie and Lewsi Smiley of Fairfield, Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Johnnie Reese Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., Thomas and Carolyn Reese of Pensacola; three sisters-in-law: Marie Reese, Mittie Siler and Viola Myhand; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Two nephews and the masonic brothers of Curtis Lodge No. 429 will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Nelson, Ray Burrage, Robert Brundidge and Larry Brundidge. Eastern Star Sisters of Wilkerson Beauty No. 290 will serve as floralbearers.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m., Sept. 1and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Sept. 2.
Charles Emanuel Jeffcoat Sr.
Charles Emanuel Jeffcoat Sr. of Dothan died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan with the Rev. Wallace Russell officiating.
He was born in Webb and resided in Troy until moving to Dothan in 1967. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Jeffcoat Equipment Company, Inc. until his retirement in 1985. At the time of his death, he was associated with Dothan Auto and Trailer Sales.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Ingram Jeffcoat of Troy and a special brother-in-law, Johnnie Grady Vann of Montgomery.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Vann Jeffcoat; father, Roy E. Jeffcoat; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Walter Black of Troy; four children and their spouses: Valerie Jeffcoat and David Owen of Athens, Cathy Jeffcoat Cooper of Ponce de Leon, Fla., Vannise Jeffcoat and Donny Gillilan of Dothan, Charles Emanuel and Ursula Jeffcoat Jr. of Gulf Shores; sister-in-law, Betty Vann of Montgomery; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sept. 1 at Byrd Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Donny and Vannise Jeffcoat Gillilan, 434 Trelawny Drive in Dothan.
