Troy man charged with robbery

The man arrested this past week in connection with a home invasion-type robbery is facing additional charges.

George McPherson Jr., 22, of Troy was taken into custody Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. after being located in the St. Paul Street area. He was charged in connection with an incident reported July 21 around 4:30 a.m. and taken into custody without incident by members of the Troy Police Department Emergency Response Team, according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage. Members of the TPD’s patrol division, detective division and special operations unit also assisted in the capture of McPherson.

"A great deal of time and effort had been put into this investigation by members of the Troy Police Department, which resulted in the arrest of McPherson," Everage said.

When arrested McPherson was charged with one count of robbery, third degree; one count of burglary, second degree and one count of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and bond was set at $40,000.

On Friday, the police department charged McPherson in connection with another home invasion-type robbery that reportedly occurred at approximately 4 a.m., Aug. 23. That incident occurred in the vicinity of University Avenue and Folmar Street.

Everage said there were two occupants in the dwelling when the incident occurred, but no injuries were reported.

The additional charges are two counts of robbery, first degree and one count of burglary, first degree. Bond was set at $50,000 in each case.
