Robbery suspect arrested without incident

Troy Police officers have made an arrest in a July 21 robbery that occurred in Troy.

The incident was reported to have occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. at Saturday last month in the area of Park Street and Collegedale Street. A lone suspect entered the occupied residence and reportedly stole some belongings that morning. No injuries were reported.

George McPherson, 22, was taken into custody at 12:38 p.m. Thursday. He was arrested in the St. Paul Street area and charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card, said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the Troy Police Department.

Following up on leads, the Emergency Response Team was utilized after receiving information of McPherson’s whereabouts, Chief Anthony Everage said. He was taken into custody without incident.

McPherson’s bond was set at a total of $40,000.

Everage said detectives continue investigating two similar incidents that were reported over the past two months. One of those was reported to have occurred Wednesday night.
