Cary Lloyd Snellgrove Jr., 73, of Troy died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at Alabama Funeral Homes Chapel in Dadeville with the Rev. Ron Beckman officiating. Alabama Funeral Homes and Cremation Centers of Dadeville is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Nov. 24, 1926 in Montgomery to Cary L. and Alma Snellgrove Sr.

He is survived by his wife, LeAndra Snellgrove; six daughters and sons-in-law: Vickie and Bobby Morris of Foley; Pat and Dr. Ron Jones of Rome, Ga.; Mignon Shepherd of Foley; Nita Lammon of Montgomery; Jeannie and Dr. Bryant H. Hudson III of Troy; Dee Dee and Dorman Day of Prattville; one son, Cary L. "Bubba" Snellgrove III of Troy and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Adams.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10 at Alabama Funeral Homes.

James Ellis

James Ellis, 74, of Brundidge died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 at Dale Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000 at Mt. Olive Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Shirlie Ellis and Calvin Faircloth officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Ellis of Brundidge; son and daughter-in-law, James David and Sharon Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Gene Fortune of Troy; five grandchildren; five sisters: Dorothy Bowden of Brundidge, Ruthel Ward of Panama City, Fla., Sue Lowery of Elba, Rachel Gibson of Austin, Texas and Sara Ellis of Elba; two brothers, Noah Gene Ellis of Troy and Jerome Ellis of Tallahassee, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and other close relatives.

Virginia T. Knight

Virginia T. Knight, 82, of Tallahassee, Fla. died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000 in Tallahassee.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000 at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Revs. W.O. Sanders and max Briggs officiating. Burial will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tallahassee and retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture after 29 years.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Leon Sessions of Tallahassee; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Thomas Jr. of Phenix City and Emory Thomas of Goshen; sister, Cuba Sims of Troy.

There will be no visitation, but the body will lie in state one hour prior to the services.

Lillie P. Rodgers Rumph

Lillie P. Rodgers Rumph, 79, of Hamilton, Ohio died at Glen Meadows Nursing Home in Hamilton, Ohio.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000 at Paynes Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Elmer Martin officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio with Gree-Hall and Jordan Memorial directing.

She was born Dec. 15, 1920 in Troy to Aaron and Corrine (Wright) Rodgers.

Survivors include three daughters: Marry Street and Lillian Printup, both of Hamilton, Ohio, and Naomi Rumph Barnes and her husband, Earnest; two sons, Alfonza Rumph and Willie H. Rumph, both of Hamilton, Ohio; stepson Kermit Rumph; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
