Troy State names new assistant coach

TROY- Barbara Sherwood has recently been chosen as the new assistant coach for the Troy State softball team.
Sherwood, a native of Pensacola, Fla., has spent the past two years as student assistant and graduate assistant coach for the Lady Trojans. She served as the recruiting coordinator under head coach Melanie Davis for the 2000 season.
Prior to coaching, Sherwood lettered four years of softball and two years of volleyball at Troy State. She was the starting catcher and team captian in softball for three of those years. Sherwood was also named Troy State’s 1998 NCAA Woman of the Year and named to the 1995 Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team for volleyball.
Sherwood received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education in 1998, and is currently working toward her graduate degree in the same area of study.
