Betty Bradley Schofield, 59, of Luverne died Friday, July 7, 2000 in a Montgomery hospital after an extended illness.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2000 at the Tuner Funeral Home Chapel in Luverne with the Rev. Calvin Faircloth officiating. Burial was at Long Chapel Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Survivors include six children: Betty Dale Pynes, James El Schofield Jr. and John Edward Schofield, all of Troy, Sharon Elizabeth Williamson, Jesses Ray Schofield and Mary Ruby Beard, all of Luverne; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters and their husbands, Emma Lillian and R.J. Schofield, Sandra Anise and Joe Flowers, all of Montgomery, Wanda Diane and Kenny Sanders of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers and their wives, James Wilton and Bernice Bradley of Brantley and Wiley Haywood and Grace Bradley of Greenville; sister-in-law, Jewel Bradley of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucile Deavers Bradley and two brothers, William Lanier "Buddy" Bradley and Walter Ray Bradley.

Mary M. Copeland

Mary M. Copeland, 75, of Troy died Friday, July 7, 2000 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2000 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. R. L. Neal officiating. Burial will be at New Mt. Zion Cemetery withy Harrison Funeral Home directing.

She was born April 5, 1925 in Pike County to Marion Tellis and Ida Mae Smiley. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Davenport of Troy; four grandchildren: Martha Davenport, Moses (Linda) Davenport, Sara Davenport and Amanda Davenport, all of Troy; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one uncle, Walter Smiley of Troy; three aunts, Bessie Lee Jones, Clara Bell Meadows, both of Troy, and Tepara Baker of New Jersey; four step-children, Cynthia (Daniel) Rufen-Blanchette of Anchorage, Alaska, Sandra (Tyrone) Holland of Washington, D.C., Earl (Bernetha) Dix of Kileen, Texas; one brother-in-law, Jimmy Copeland of Troy; two special friends, Loreen Bean and Emma Scott, both of Troy and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Davenport, Bobby Copeland, Michael Milton, Howard Taylor, Moses Davenport and Darnell Harvey Ellis. Friends of the family will serve as floralbearers.

Visitation will be Fro noon until 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 12 at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
