James C. Helms Sr.

James C. Helms Sr., 81, of Louisville died Saturday, July 8, 2000 in Tallassee.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Louisville Assembly of God with the Rev. Tommy Hartzog officiating. Burial will be at Pine Level Baptist Church in Louisville with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Clark of Tallassee, two sons and daughters-in-law, Menzil and Betty Helms of Dothan and Jim and Susan Helms of Camden; five grandsons; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and other close relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie M. Helms and a son, Larry B. Helms.
Pallbearers will be David Carpenter, Gerald Carpenter, Toby Helms, Earl Mann, Gerald Abercrombie and Timmy Moats. Donnis Helms will be an honorary pallbearer.
Fannie N. Hilliard
Fannie N. Hilliard, 92, of Grady died Sunday, July 9, 2000 at her home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000 in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Pastor Floyd Nobles officiating. Burial will be at Hills Chapel Cemetery in Ramer with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Survivors include two nephews, Johnny (Carolyn) Nobles of Grady and Henry Nobles of Montgomery; friends and neighbors, Jack and Peggy Knighten of Grady.
Pallbearers will be Ray Dees, Jack Knighten, Jeff Knighten, Jim Little, Johnny Nobles, John Nobles and Bobby Senn.
N.C. ‘Lefty’ Green
N.C. "Lefty" Green, 80, of Troy died Saturday, july 8, 2000 at V. A. Medical Center in Montgomery.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Carey Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Ramah Cemetery in Josie with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy F. Green of Troy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray H. and Ann Green of Orlando, Fla., Jim and Alexandria Green of Jacksonville, Fla., Billy and Margaret Green of Houston, Texas; one step-son and his wife, Nelson and Beverly Floyd of Troy; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Frank Green of Brundidge.
Mr. Green was a veteran of World War II. As a member of the 101st Airbourne in teh Army, he served from 1941 until 1945.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Pallbearers will be Lyndon Austin, Roland Flowers, Billy Henderson, Glen Kersey, Derry Pittman and Justin Richburg.
Frankie Antonio Tellis
Frankie Antonio Tellis, 23, of Troy died Thursday, July 6, 2000 at Baptist Hospital in Montgomery.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000 at St. Mark Baptist Church in Glenwood with the Rev. Andrew Wright officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
He was born April 19, 1977 in Pike County. He attended Troy public schools and was employed at Wal-Mart. He was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Glenwood.
Survivors include his parents, Frankie and Mary Louise Tellis of Troy; six brothers: Curtis D. Smith of Montgomery, Randy D. Smith of Spring Hill, Alonzo D. Tellis of Troy, Timothy (Monica) Starks of Stone Mountain, Ga., Phillip Faison of Elba and Patrick Paschal of Troy; four sisters: Catina Rodgers of Birmingham, Stephanie Rodgers of Luverne, Clarissa Jones of Highland Home and Demetria Rodgers of Luverne; grandparents, Thelma Tellis and Eloise Caldwell, both of Troy; great-uncle, Bennie (Rebecca) Caldwell of Luverne; two nieces, Yasmine Smith and Fredrica McBryde and a nephew, Brandon Kelly, all of Troy; several other nieces and nephews; eight aunts: Barbara Griffin, Betty Flenory and Darlene Flenory of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lacy Johnson of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Elizabeth Dortch, Tarrie (Charlie) Jones of Troy; aunts, Garrett (Willie) Lucas adn Irene Tellis of Troy; six uncles: Barney Tellis, Robert Tellis, both of Troy, Willie Tellis of Atlanta, Ga., Johnny Tellis of Jonesboro, Ga., Dronis Flenory of Pittsburgh and Londey Flemory of Riverdale, Ga.; a host of cousins and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceeded in death by his grandparents Elbert Tellis and the Rev. Jimmy L. and Clidie Caldwell.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.
Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 11. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Gyzelle Gibson
Gyzelle Gibson, 81, of Troy died Friday, July 7, 2000 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2000 at Brundidge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Linda Gibson of Montgomery; one daughter, Donna Gibson of Dothan; three grandchildren, Laura Spencer, Will Crawley and Tom Gibson; one great-grandchild, Collin Spencer; two sisters, Jeanette Byars and Agnes Chambers; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell Gibson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brundidge United Methodist Church.
Betty Bradley Schofield
Betty Bradley Schofield, 59, of Luverne died Friday, July 7, 2000 in a Montgomery hospital after an extended illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2000 at the Tuner Funeral Home Chapel in Luverne with the Rev. Calvin Faircloth officiating. Burial was at Long Chapel Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Survivors include six children: Betty Dale Paynes, James El Schofield Jr. and John Edward Schofield, all of Troy, Sharon Elizabeth Williamson, Jesses Ray Schofield and Mary Ruby Beard, all of Luverne; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters and their husbands, Emma Lillian and R.J. Schofield, Sandra Anise and Joe Flowers, all of Montgomery, Wanda Diane and Kenny Sanders of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers and their wives, James Wilton and Bernice Bradley of Brantley and Wiley Haywood and Grace Bradley of Greenville; sister-in-law, Jewel Bradley of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucile Deavers Bradley and two brothers, William Lanier "Buddy" Bradley and Walter Ray Bradley.
