James Morgan McVay, 85, of Troy, died Thursday, June 15, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

The funeral was held graveside Saturday, June 17, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Shults officiating. Skeen Funeral Home of Troy handled arrangements.

Survivors include wife, Virginia McVay of Troy; two sons, Lavon McVay and his wife Peggy McVay of Troy, and Larry McVay of Troy; one granddaughter, Debra Smith McVay and her husband Ray Smith McVay of Troy; a brother, Willie McVay of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria Thompson

Gloria Thompson, 76, of Tallassee, formerly of Union Springs, died Friday, June 16, 2000.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2000 at Sandfield Cemetery in Pike County with the Rev. Mack Lowery officiating and Jeffcoat Funeral Home of Tallassee directing.

Survivors include daughters, K. Dozier (Cecil) of Anniston and Meta Butler (Mike) of Macon, Ga.; sons, Alex Thompson (Cheryl) of Montgomery, Keith Thompson and Waddy Thompson, both of Tallassee; brother, Robert E. Keith (Ann) of Tifton, Ga.; sister, Katherine Farmer (Joe) of Dothan; sister-in-law, Janet S. Keith of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Keith of Troy, and brother, Dr. James A. Keith of Columbia, SC.

She was born on May 1, 1924 in Pike County. She retired as a secretary of Water Works in Montgomery.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 18, 2000 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee.
