A new cafe should be opening its doors in a couple of weeks.
Garrett’s IGA on Three Notch Street is expanding to include Cafe IGA in the local store.
Deli manager Denise Taylor said the small restaurant will have seating for 160 people so customers don’t have to get your food and run off to eat. They can sit and enjoy.
But, those in a hurry to get back to the office and still get a good meal to go.
A new addition will be a salad bar, which should please dieters.
"We have so many people coming through here at lunch," Taylor said of how the decision to add a restaurant was made.
Taylor said Cafe IGA is an international concept that just hasn’t been adopted here until now.
Cafe IGA will have rotissere chicken, ribs, a self-serve drink center and a six-foot refrigerator full of cold cut sandwiches, meats and cheeses.
Over the sound of construction going on in the background, Taylor said she hopes the cafe is in operation in a couple of weeks.
"We’re just ready to get out here," she said looking around the area where the cafe will be located.
Just after that comment, she got word that work on the floor has begun and should be completed in two or three days and replied with a shout of glee.
Taylor said the cafe will be open during the grocery store’s business hours, but plans are to rent out the restaurant area for banquets.
"We do a lot of catering," Taylor said.
She is excited to see the last few months of planning become a reality. And, she’ll be even more excited once all the construction workers are gone and the first customer sits down to enjoy a meal.
