Annie Flemming Griffin a resident of New York and former resident of Brundidge, died on Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell’s Liptrot-Dawson Funeral Home.

Russell Tellis

Russell Tellis, 95, of Troy, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2000 at the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. R. Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetary.

Survivors include four children; Amos Tellis and Whamon Tellis, both of Newark, N.J., Vera Tellis Hampton of Irvington, N.J., and a stepson, P.C. McClure of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Clara Meadows of Troy, and Tepora Baker of Cleveland, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Tommie Tellis White of Calonia, N.J., Patricia Tellis Gibson of Boston, Mass., Mary Tellis and Baseemah Jumu’ah, both of Newwark, N.J., Cynthia Hampton of Orange, N.J., Pamela Tellis of Texas, Audrey McClure of Atlanta, Ga., and Mark McClure of Richmond, Ind.; 26 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Jennie Tellis, a stepson, a grandson, five brothers and two sisters.

Tellis was born in Bullock County on April 4, 1905. He attended the public school system of Bullock County. He was a member of the New Mt. Zion Mission Baptist Church in Troy.

Pallbearers will be members of Masonic Pilgrim Lodge No. 62. Floralbearers will be friends of the family.

Visitation will be Friday, May 12, at noon with a wake following at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Acie Tillery

Acie Tillery, 43, of Troy, died Tuesday, May 9, 200 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2000 at the chapel of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy with the Rev. Tom Senn officiating, and Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include his mother, Winnie Tillery of Troy; two sisters, Linda King of Andalusia, and Shirley Kelly of Henderson; five brothers and five sisters-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Virginia Tillery, Charlie and Tammy Tillery, and Herman and Sheila Tillery, all of Troy, Dewey and Tommie Tillery of Brundidge, and Wilmer and Linda Tillery of Springhill; his girlfriend, Donna Senn of Troy, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his father; Thomas Tillery and one brother, Ray Tillery.

His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
