The undefeated Dixie Angel Bay Bears were surprised Tuesday as they fell 18-10 to the only team in the league yet to notch a victory, the Crocs.

The Crocs jumped out to an early lead and held on for the win as Rachael Folmar took the win on the mound despite three home runs hit by Bay Bear batters.

Savannah Blazer had two home runs including a grand slam to lead the Crocs at the plate, while Bobbie Jo Strother finished with a homer and a single. Ivie Hillburn had a pair of singles, Folmar had a triple and Alex Barnett and Ashley Turner both had a singles.

The Bay Bears got 11 hits of their own, but couldn’t quite plate enough to pull out the victory. Jill Jennings, Marley Hughes and Ebony Grimes all had round-trippers while RaeAnn Boswell and Kris Messick both had a couple of singles. Tiffany Upshaw had a triple and Julie Money, Jessica Pearlstein and Rebecca McKenzie all had singles.

Rumblers 9, Volcanoes 8

In a spectacular finish to a tightly contested ball game, the Rumblers came from behind in the final inning to oust the Volcanoes 9-8.

After a five-run top of the fourth by the Volcanoes put them up 8-6, the Rumblers had the bases loaded and two outs when Blair Wise roped a triple that cleared the bases and gave them the one-point win.

The game was back and forth in the final two innings after the Volcanoes took a one-point lead in the third after scoring three then, the Rumblers came back with four runs of their own.

Wise led the Rumblers at the plate with a double and her three-RBI triple. Jehle Flowers and Hilary Bassett both had doubles and Heather West and Bridgette Dix hit singles. West also had the win on the mound with seven strike outs.

For the Volcanoes, Brittany Hagler led the way with a single and a 3-RBI triple. Julea Maestri had a double.

DIXIE BOYS

Mets 10, Mariners 8

The Mariners scored five runs in the bottom half of the final inning, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Mets held on for the 10-8 win.

Blake Phelps got the win for the Mets as he combined with Will Fuller and Tyson Pugh on the mound allowing only six hits and striking out seven. Wiley Dees pitched for the Mariners striking out six.

Morgan Sanders was the man at the plate for the Mets, going 3-for-4 while Phelps and Cody Miller helped out with two hits apiece. Fuller, Jake Kitchens and Tyson Pugh all had hits as well. Fernando White went 2-for-4 for the Mariners while Micah Brown, Wiley Dees, Donald Griffin and Chase Collins all had hits.
