One call answered by officers was a shooting at approximately 5 p.m. Sunday on Williams Street.

The victim, Derrick Fayson, 18, of Troy is resting at home after being released from the hospital Monday, while the suspect, Tarvarus T. King, 18, also of Troy, has been charged with attempted murder.

King allegedly shot Fayson with a handgun then left the scene in a white vehicle. He was later located by patrol officers and taken into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting, said Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage.

Fayson was shot in the lower back and leg. He was treated at Edge Regional Medical Center.

King’s bond was set at $10,000.

In a separate incident, officers with the TPD caught two suspects who are believed to have stolen a 1989 Ford pickup truck from a Clanton dealership.

Sam Gold, 18, and Brandon Allen, 18, both of Clanton were reportedly being sought after they were involved in an one-vehicle accident on Swindall Road at approximately 5 a.m.

While running a check on the damaged vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered it was stolen. Officers received information that two white males were seen exiting the vehicle and running toward a nearby trailer park.

Around 9 a.m., an officer from Troy spotted the suspects walking in the yard of a residence on Swindall Road. Since they both fit descriptions of the subjects involved in the accident, they were apprehended.

Gold and Allen were transferred to the custody of the Clanton Police Department and are facing charges of theft of property, first degree.

Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said his department worked no major incidents.
