Irma Davis Powell of Troy died Sunday, April 30, 2000, in Montgomery.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy with the Rev. Danny Doss presiding.

Survivors include one daughter and a son-in-law, Ed and Linda Kelly of Montgomery, a grandson and his fiance, Dennis (Bubba) Kelly and Kristy Hautt of Montgomery; one sister, Voncile Weeks of Montgomery.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Pee-Wee Powell.

Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy, Tuesday, May 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Troy.

Velma Carroll Smith

Velma Carroll Smith, 82, of Troy died Friday, April 28, 2000.

Her funeral was held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel and at Green Hills Memorial Park on Sunday in Troy with the Revs. Keith Reynolds and Mack Lowery presiding.

Survivors include husband, J.T. Smith of Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, June Smith and Charles Giddens of Millbrook, Brenda Smith and Lyle Orr of Phoenix, Patricia and Scott Sharpe of Troy, and daughter Bonnie Richardson also of Troy; grandchildren, Deric Giddens of Norfolk, Dan Giddens of Virginia Beach, Michael Giddens of Atlanta, Curtis Orr and Brandon Orr of Phoenix, Jeff Richardson of Birmingham, and Bryant Sharpe of Banks; great-grandchildren, Emily Giddens and Paul Giddens of Norfolk, Harleigh Wood, Teaghan Sharpe, and Darlene Sharpe of Banks; one sister, Ruby Fredrick of Troy.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a grandchild, Stefanie Sharpe.

Marie Hays Veal

Marie Hays Veal, 72, of Ozark, died Friday evening, April 28, 2000, in a Birmingham hospital following a long illness.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, at Ozark First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Phil Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery near Brundidge, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lott of Columbia,AL and Alice Faye Davis of West Covina,CA; three sons, Kenneth Hays of Georgetown, GA, Enoch Hays of Fountain Valley, CA, and Jesse W. Hays of Savannah, TN; two sisters, Louise Davis and Margaret Sanders both of Phenix City; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Veal lived in Banks for many years before moving to Ozark in 1992. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors at 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 2 until one hour before the service Wednesday when it will be in the Church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday evening.

Alice June White

Alice June White,79, of Bushnell, Fla., died Sunday, April 30, 2000.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Purcell Funeral Home in Bushnell.

Survivors include husband, Gerald D. White of Bushnell; daughters Patricia Whitt of St. Louis, and Millie Jessup of Wilmington; sons Daniel White of Bushnell and Richard White of Thaxton; nieces, Ginny Leader of Georgia and Martha Denton of Alabama; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was born Oct. 4, 1920 in Tampa. Church affiliation was with First Baptist Lake Panasoffkee and she also was a member of the Southern Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union.
